Duane Hansen Fernandez is a writer and director. Born from a Danish mother and Filipino father, Fernandez’s ethnic background towed him from his birthplace in Los Angeles, California to numerous corners and countries of the world throughout the years. It was these years that taught him to use his art to reflect an influence from his many cultural environments.

Once dreaming of becoming an archaeologist, that passion never really went away, although it evolved. Fernandez found himself becoming his own archetype of an anthropologist — seeking to understand how people live and interact with one another, but also how they make their lives meaningful. Why do people do what they do? What are their untold stories? Most importantly, how can we make the world a better place by telling them?

Fernandez has had the opportunity to work with some of the greatest leaders in the industry, from Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, Disney, Marvel, Searchlight, A24, Focus Features, Universal Pictures, and Lionsgate, to Paramount, Sony Pictures, NBC, Fox, and FX.

Rebecca Parks Fernandez is a 10-year veteran of the entertainment industry and a citizen of the Muscogee Nation. Recognizing an industry-wide need for representation across all forms of content, Parks Fernandez co-founded VOKSEE Studios to tell creative, original stories. From a six-part Netflix docu-series and films like “The Revenant,” to legendary automaker Aston Martin, VOKSEE has an impressive roster of partners and projects under its belt due, in large part, to the immersive, non-traditional experience the studio provides.

Her work has been featured in Rolling Stone, Time, The Hollywood Reporter, Newsweek, Vice, LA Times, Washington Post, Billboard, MSNBC, Slate, and more. Parks Fernandez has spoken about the power of representation and content strategy at several conferences and events, including SXSW.

We want to share people, locations and stories that aren't typically seen on screen, but stories we know resonate with wide audiences. We want to highlight people and locations that represent a majority of the country, but are often left out of the conversation. We know representation matters, and our goal is to feature the underserved in a meaningful way. Because more importantly, stories matter.

VOKSEE has worked on some of the most iconic entertainment properties in the world, including numerous awards films that have received nearly 42 Academy Award nominations, culminating in eight wins, as well as 24 HFPA nominations and seven Golden Globes. Our passion for storytelling is boundless.
